Why Fit Test Your Employees?

OSHA regulation 1910.134 Fit Testing Procedures requires that all employees that wear respirators, even N95 masks, must be fit tested annually. The employee must pass eight tests that include normal breathing, deep breathing, head movement, talking, grimacing and bending over.

The gold standard for ensuring that the respirator masks fit your employees is through quantitative fit testing (QNFT). QNFT provides a numerical measurements of the amount of face seal leakage present when a given respirator is donned by the user.  Enliven Occupational Health has the experience and equipment to ensure that your fit testing program is a success. 

QNFT Respirator Fit Test Equipment

Our state of the art TSI PortaCount Pro provides you an accurate assessment of the correct fit. Some of the testing we are able to accommodate includes:

• Quantitative respirator fit testing (QNFT)

• Disposable filtering-facepiece fit testing for Series 100/99/P3/HEPA masks

• N95 mask fit testing

• Half mask fit testing

• Full-face mask fit testing

• Gas mask fit testing

We have experience in testing employees to respirators produced by a variety of manufacturers, including 3M, North and Drager. 

QLFT Fit Test

OSHA standards permit quantitative (QNFT) or qualitative (QLFT) fit testing.  We encourage testing employees with quantitative fit testing protocols to ensure an objective result, but we are able to perform QLFT with:

• Saccharin Solution Aerosol Protocol

• BitrexTM (Denatonium Benzoate) Solution Aerosol Qualitative Fit Test Protocol

Medical Clearance for Respirator Fit Test

Medical clearance is required for each individual prior to being respirator fit tested. Dr. Leonette will provide a thorough review of the employee's health status to ensure that they are capable of wearing a respirator.
